Spotlight on the Sensational Jessica Loren!
You cast a quick look first. Very pretty and striking-looking, cool and highly appealing vocal, terrific production, awesome songs. Oh, and then you find out she’s just turned 18!
So you put the record on. It takes you just seconds to realize that this is commercial mainstream rocky-pop sound at its best. The whole package is precisely “right” for its target niche. This alone should be enough to get Jessica on anyone’s radar.
I wanted to create a Spotlight section on this blog for a while now and it was obvious to me that Jessica is as good a choice to inaugurate it as any I’ll ever find.
Independent artists almost always have one thing in common: they create their original music entirely within their own means. Often in their bedrooms! And yet their results are sometimes so unexpectedly great that million-dollar major-label productions come across as botoxed fakes by comparison.
Some of these artists may be signed to small independent labels. But in almost all such cases this sounds much grander than it actually is. Usually, those labels are small indies themselves, struggling on the same level as the artists they’re trying to help!
So, with all that in mind, is Jessica Loren a good choice to kick off this new section of my blog? I decided to tick some boxes first. I had to be sure I’m recommending stuff which is “awesome!” – not just “really good.”
- Songwriting: Songwriters I’ve shown this to paled slightly.
And then played the tracks over and over! - Performances: Musicians who listened were grooving along and the singers were giving thumbs up left right and center, nodding their heads.
- Production: Producers who checked this out felt it was bang on the money, and their faces started twitching…!
- Credibility with Target Niche: Many unsuspecting innocents were exposed to this music, including large radio audiences (particularly during the “Laura and Ashton Show” on Spectrum FM). The number of listener requests received for “DNA” was greater than the number of requests for any other song from the entire station’s playlist!
- Crossover: Kids love it, old farts love it. Rockers love it. Pop-heads love it.
- Overall: The whole package is flawless, from the image to the sound, including the indefinable factors. People are drawn to this instantly and regularly request more information. You’ll catch yourself wanting to hear this music again and again!
This is not major-label dumbed-down fodder for the mindless masses. This is easy listening pop rock in the very best sense of the term: it’s easy to love and enjoy for a long time! It’s credible, delivered with passion, and produced simply beautifully. And most of all – the songs rock!
The vocal is powerful yet smooth, sexy and unpretentious, the emotional engagement is real and feels organic, while the musicianship of the whole crew is spot-on. It’s not just a model for other indies to aspire to – regardless of their style – it’s also a model for the majors to look at and admire. And if they want to sign it, they should get to the back of the line!

I agree. This is an astonishingly good artist, with what must surely be a massively successful future ahead of her. A massive talent! I took a look at the video for “Lonely,” which is featured on this page, and instantly remembered the some from reviewing it on Fame Games 6 months ago! I think that says it all.
Outstanding.
VERY Impressive! As usual, The FG Crew Picks A Winner!! …..Sunset Slim
